In an egocentric gesture audioSMOG attempts to bring the world to ourselves by recording ambiance from different locations and allowing them to be accessed anywhere through the internet.
Based on the aim of sustainable immobility and bringing the world to ourselves, recorded ambiance from different locations will be uploaded to the internet - distributed on global sound waves that bring people from distributed spaces to the same place.
Participants will be able to upload their own samples as well as listen to different locations around the world. Audio files are geo-tagged to their recording location and accessed through a map formatted interface.
This location based project compresses space allowing participants to "be there, without being there".
